Avenham and Miller Parks Restoration

AVENHAM AND MILLER PARKS RESTORATION.

Preston City Council wishes to refurbish and restore the above Parks. This improvement work is dependent upon the success of funding bids to the Heritage Lottery Fund and other funding bodies, and to further consideration by the Council.

The Restoration proposals include the restoration of the original Victorian designs of Edward Milner, together with the Japanese Garden, which was a later addition. Modern facilities, including lighting, an Interpretation Centre and a new bandstand are also proposed.

The plan aims to:

1. Restore the original 19th Century design of the eminent landscape designer Edward Milner. The elements for restoration include:
Planting - Avenues of trees, woodlands, shrubberies and rockeries
Paving, Steps, Railings, Gates and Drainage
Parkland Buildings and Monuments
Water Features and Seats

2. Restore the 20th Century additions to Milner's design such as:
The Japanese Garden

3. Provide modern 21st Century facilities such as:
A new Bandstand
